Are you a tax professional looking for your next challenge within a landmark Australian infrastructure business? We are seeking a Senior Tax Accountant to join a high-performing corporate tax team located in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD.

This 12-month contract is ideal for a candidate coming from a Big 4 background or a large-scale corporate environment who is looking to manage complex tax portfolios and contribute to significant national projects.


The Role

Reporting to the Tax Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the group’s tax compliance and reporting obligations are met with the highest level of accuracy. You will work within a sophisticated financial environment, providing critical support across multiple tax streams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tax Compliance: Preparation and review of annual corporate income tax returns and monthly/quarterly Business Activity Statements (BAS).

  • Tax Accounting: Assist with the year-end and half-year tax provision process, including the calculation of deferred tax assets and liabilities.

  • FBT & GST: Manage the annual FBT return process and provide internal advisory on GST-related matters for various business units.

  • Advisory & Support: Partner with the broader finance team and business stakeholders to provide practical tax advice on commercial transactions and projects.

  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to automate tax workflows and enhance reporting frameworks.


Ideal candidate

We are looking for a technically proficient and detail-oriented accountant who can navigate the complexities of a large, listed infrastructure entity.

  • Qualifications: You are CA or CPA qualified with a strong academic background.

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in corporate tax, either within a Big 4/Tier 2 firm or a large-scale commercial tax function.

  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of Australian tax legislation, including tax consolidations, capital gains tax, and tax effect accounting.

  • Systems: Proficiency in large ERP systems (SAP preferred) and tax compliance software (e.g., OneSource or Thomson Reuters).

  • Soft Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex tax concepts for non-tax stakeholders.
